Why GEO emerged
A growing share of queries is resolved directly in an AI conversation: the user gets a finished answer with two or three sources and never opens a results page. For a website this means the competition is no longer for the click but for a place inside the answer. If a model cannot find, extract and cite your content, you simply do not exist for that audience.
How generative engines assemble an answer
