GEO pricing: how to budget for an audit and implementation

A GEO quote may cover an automated report, a manual review, development work or ongoing content updates. Before comparing prices, check what each provider will deliver and what your own team will need to do.

This guide does not offer a universal market rate. It provides a way to review a quote and build a budget. The hours below are illustrative, not geo-rank.ai's price list or an industry benchmark.

Ask for an itemized scope

An audit pays for investigation and recommendations. Implementation covers the agreed changes to the site, followed by checks that those changes work. Regular monitoring is another possible cost: agree on the questions, services and frequency of checks, and how you will use the results.

Ask for these deliverables separately. “One month of GEO” does not tell you whether you will receive revised pages, access to software or a presentation reporting a score.

Type of workWhat the quote should specify
DiagnosisPages, templates, languages, manual checks and available evidence
DevelopmentIncluded changes, publication responsibility and tests
ContentNew writing or revision; who supplies business facts
AI-answer observationsQuestions, platforms, repetitions and observation period
SupportHours or named tasks, revision rounds and scope changes

Page count is only part of the estimate

A hundred similar product pages may share one fix. Ten pages with different terms, languages and custom components can require more individual work. A useful quote therefore identifies both URLs and page types.

The estimate also depends on how much information you can supply. An editor may need to interview your team before writing accurate service terms. If your developer will implement the recommendations, budget for explaining the findings and checking the finished work. Ask providers to include those tasks explicitly.

A worked planning example

Suppose a team sketches the following workload for a small project:

The total is 40 hours. At a hypothetical hourly rate of R, labor would cost 40 × R. If the people involved charge different rates, calculate their costs separately. Include any agreed software costs and applicable taxes in the budget.

Forty hours is not a recommended allowance for your website. Replace the example with your own tasks and ask the supplier to explain the estimate. A fixed fee needs equally clear boundaries: what counts as additional work, and who approves it?

Questions that make quotes easier to compare

Ask what you will receive, what your team must supply and who will implement the changes. Also ask how the provider handles a suspected problem that the audit does not confirm. A useful investigation can rule out a problem; it does not need to find a fault in every check.

Give shortlisted providers the same brief, with the same languages, pages and outputs. Then compare the differences. Google's advice on hiring an SEO is a useful starting point for questions about methods and accountability, not a price guide for GEO.

Our audit scope describes the diagnostic work. GEO and AEO implementation covers changes made afterward. The fee should be tied to agreed work, with no promise that an AI service will cite the site.
